Scenic Train Journeys
We have always been in favour of train journeys. They let you explore the region and absorb its surroundings from the comfort of your cabin or seat at just the perfect pace, and the ideal example we give to everyone is the Swiss Rail journeys. Once abroad these trains, you will realise that it's not about getting from point A to point B. The journey itself becomes a destination, evoking feelings and emotions that are scarcely felt on any other journey, we assure you. The travel is subsidised by the many train passes on offer and the best part, you never have to fear reaching late, as the Swiss Train network works just as precisely as their watches.
Read on to get acquainted to some of those routes:-

The Glacier Express:
The "Worlds Slowest Express Train" connects St.Moritz to Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn. Each of the eight hours travelling time offers a succession of unforgettable views and impressions. The train itself, is class apart, and if different sounds seem to be emanating from parts of the train, it's probably because the train is just passing over one of the291 bridges. The Albula Route, the Rhine gorge and the Goms Valley are the highlights of this journey.
Route: - Zermatt>Visp>Brig>Andermatt>Disentis>Chur>Davos/St.Moritz

The Bernina Express
The Bernina Express connect Chur in the canton Graubunden with Tirano in the Italian Veltlin, via the Bernina Pass. It offers the most beautiful connection from the cool north to the temperate south. The train runs over 196 bridges and 55 tunnels to reach its destination. Take a seat and sit back in comfort as the train climbs inclines of over 70% giving your views of snow capped mountain peaks and rolling landscapes on its way to Italy.
Route: - Chur/Davos/St.Moritz>Bernina Pass>Poschiavo> Tirano/Lugano

The Golden Pass Line
Two languages, three worlds, six lakes, one line: The Golden Pass Line. The golden panorama train squeezes through vineyards and gardens towards black fir trees and fast - flowing streams. Cosy chalets and grazing cows in lush green meadows and the Simmen Valley, all come into view. Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, Lake Lungern, Lake Sarnen and Lake Lucern will greet you on this journey as you head towards its destination in Central Switzerland, Lucern.
Route : - Montruex>Zweisimmen>Interlaken>Bruinig Pass>Lucern

The Wilhelm Tell Express
A combination of a cruise and a train journey, the experience starts in the first class upper deck of a paddlewheel streamer and ends in the first class panorama coach of the Gotthard Railway is a luxurious experience. Almost three hours of cruising and a 15km long Gotthard tunnel are the highlights of this experience.
Route: - Lucern> Lake Lucern> Fluelen> St.Gotthard > Bellinzona> Locarno/Lugano.

The Pre - Alpine Express
All scenic routes have one thing in common; they take us from one part of the country to another in a few hours. And not by the fastest route, even if they do call themselves an express, but always the most beautiful route. The same applies to the Pre - Alpine Express. This isn't a train of the superlatives, it's more of an insiders recommendation. It doesn't conquer the Alps, rather it shows you the finely - chiselled charm of the foothills to the Alps. Instead of jagged rock faces and deep gorges, the charming hills of the Appenzellerland and Toggenburg will cast their spell upon you.
Route: - Lucern> Arth-Goldau> Rapperswil> St.Gallen> Romanshorn
